Yuguda, Insurance Chiefs for Business Journal 5th Anniversary Lecture, Awards


Mallam Isa Yuguda, Executive Governor of Bauchi State and chief executives of leading insurance firms in the country are set to grace the 5th Anniversary Lecture/Awards of Business Journal magazine scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2013 at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.

A statement by Prince Cookey, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Business Journal, stated that Yuguda would be the Special Guest of Honour at the event and will also receive an award: ‘Champion of Good Governance & Sustainable Development’ in recognition of his sterling qualities in promoting the tenets of good governance in Nigeria and embarking on sustainable developmental strides in Bauchi State .

In the same vein, leading insurance firms in the country would be honoured with ‘Insurance Industry Leadership Award’ in recognition of their corporate achievements and performance in the insurance industry over the years.

Cookey said the anniversary lecture which has ‘Is Nigeria Growing Forward or Developing Backward’ as theme, is designed to provide a platform for stakeholders in critical sectors of the economy to review the state of the media industry and national economy, and draw a roadmap for sustainable future.

He said the theme is apt given the inability of the economy to create jobs and reduce high level of poverty in the country despite Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of between six and eight per cent per annum, according to latest figures from the government and various international financial institutions.

The Business Journal publisher said the event would be chaired by Engr. Ernest Ndukwe, immediate past Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) while the guest speakers include Mr. Chike Mokwunye, Group Managing Director/CEO, Royal Exchange Plc and Mr. Roberts Orya, Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).

Business Journal was established in 2008 to deliver cutting-edge reportage, analysis and special reports on key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
