The Group President, International Consultants Group, Dr Ahmed Salawudeen, has donated an ultra modern library to the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) to enhance the knowledge of insurance operators.

The library is sited at the NCRIB Secretariat in Lagos and was named after the donor.

Salawudeen, at the commissioning of the library today Tuesday, in Lagos, said the project was part of his contributions to the development of the insurance industry. He called on operators to unite and form a common front towards developing the industry.

He lauded the contributions of past and present leaders of the broking profession and called on the present leadership to esteem discipline and professionalism.

He called on brokers to be proactive and ensure that they shun unethical practices which had in time past portray the industry in bad light.

President NCRIB Mrs Laide Osijo, commended the effort of the donor and called on other members of the council to contribute to the development of the sector.

She noted that the donor remains one of the shining lights of the broking sector, as he made the highest single donation towards the completion of the council’s secretariat.

She said: "It is auspicious for me to state that Salawudeen has indeed distinguished himself by supporting the course of the NCRIB, especially towards the completion of the ultra modern secretariat, which has today remained a pride to the entire insurance industry.

"It is on record that Salawudeen is the highest single donor to the NCRIB building, a project he committed a whopping sum of N10 million towards its completion. As a great philanthropist that he is, his contribution, which came when it mattered most, galvanised the process of making the vision of the building a reality giving it the success story we are all telling today."

Osijo also used the occasion to disclose the honour done to some past leaders of the council. She noted that major sections of the secretariat have been christened after the past heroes who have helped further the course of the broking sector.

Those honoured are her predecessor Dr Taslim Sanusi, T .A Braithwaite, Akin George, Dede Ijere and others.
