SA Life appoints two Directors, rewards staff

Standard Alliance Life Assurance Limited, a member-company of Standard Alliance Group, has elevated Bolaji Oladipo and Andrew Agbaga to the position of Executive Directors.

A statement by the underwriting company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Nelson Egboboh, said the appointments took effective from June, 2013, adding that seven directors and the firm’s Chairman, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, were retained.

He said the company also rewarded 38 staff with promotion to different cadres for their efficiency and exceptional inputs, stressing that the Board’s decision for the fresh appointments, was informed by the ownership spirit with which the two officers had continued to perform their duties as General Managers, Business Development and Operations respectively before now.

He said: “Their result-yielding ownership spirits were noticed by the board which consequently deemed it necessary at its June meeting to elevate them to a much more strategic status where they could be better involved in taking the company to another level.”

He noted that Oladipo who was the General Manager, Business Development before his appointment, holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics (1990) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from Lagos State University. He became an Associate member of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (ACIIN) in 1998, started his insurance career with Equity Indemnity Insurance Company Limited in 1993, left to join SA Life in March 2000 where he has been in charge of the company’s Business Development.

Egboboh noted that Agbaga, holds Advance Diploma in Management, University of Lagos and studied Financial Management in Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) Lagos State University. He is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA), Fellow, Institute of Financial Management of Nigeria (FInstFM), has diverse working experience as an Accountant, Auditor, Financial Adviser and Insurance Operations at management level with over 15 years working experience in the Insurance industry.

Agbaga began his working career in 1985 with AIICO insurance Plc, International Standard Insurer Limited 1992, Ola Tijani & Co (Chartered Accountants) in 1996, Global Assurance Company Ltd (now International Energy Insurance Plc) in 1998, until he moved to Standard Alliance Insurance Plc in 2000 as the Financial Controller. He was seconded to run Standard Alliance Properties Limited as the company’s Managing Director upon its commencement of operations in 2007 and later moved to SA Life as Head of the company’s operations.

Egboboh said the retained directors are Olorogun O’tega Emerhor,  (Chairman), Dr. Ramsey Mowoe, CON, Ede Osayande,  Bode Adediji, Mrs. Omola Oshiafi, Mrs. Rhe Emerhor-Iwuagwu and Austin Enajemo-Isire (Managing Director).

He noted that Idowu Sobanjo who heads the company’s Northern business in Abuja and Danforth Edobor who leads the Mid-West/South-East operations of the organisation have been promoted as senior manager and manager respectively.

Egboboh said Onadiji Abidemi , from Corporate Services, Agbabiaka Abiodun (Technical), Oyefeso Abiodun (Technical) and Ms. Chinwe Okoh (Business Development) were elevated to the position of Deputy Manager respectively. Kenneth Obinwanne (Business Development) was promoted as Assistant Manager.
