Microsoft to support insurers on evolving trends in ICT

Microsoft Incorporated has pledged to support insurance companies in taking advantage of evolving trends in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to align their technology business strategies, Inspen has learnt.

The Chairman, Information Technology Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Olawale Adedokun, who disclosed this in a report submitted to the association, said the support has become necessary as lack of proper data has been the bane of the industry and has stifled underwriting.

He noted that all insurance organisations are encouraged to deploy technologies which will support the capture, storage, analysis, presentation and management of data in an online real-time basis.

Adedokun said another telecoms firm, VDT Communications Limited, also pledged to work with insurers on their branch connectivity and network infrastructure.

He said: “Microsoft have agreed to do a free consulting work for companies that are interested in taking advantage of evolving trends in ICT to align their technology to business strategy.

“The industry should tap into the potential of evolving ICT trends as currently being done in other parts of the world.”

He called on the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of insurance companies to involve Head of Information and Technology departments in their strategy session for effective understanding and alignment of technology with business expectations.
