Sovereign Trust supports NCF's environmental preservative initiative

Sovereign Trust Insurance (STI) Plc is set to support the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), at the forthcoming 2013 ‘Walk for Nature’ in conjunction with the Lagos State Government, an initiative geared towards the preservation of the environment.

Inspen learnt that the event which is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, was designed to create awareness amongst the people of Lagos and its environs on the need to imbibe and cultivate good environmental practices as well as the ‘Go Green’ initiative instituted by State Government.

It was also gathered that the awareness campaign would canvass the need for clean and safe environment while at the same time, preserving the eco-friendly nature of the state.

At the media parley held by the organisers of the Walk expressed in Lagos, it gave profound appreciation to the Management of STI Plc for its continued identification with the Foundation and her support for its activities from time to time. Equally, the Foundation applauded the efforts of the company on the rehabilitation and beautification of the Shitta Roundabout under the Surulere Local Government of the State since 2008.

The Foundation called on well-meaning Nigerians and other corporate Organisations to emulate the exemplary initiatives demonstrated by the underwriting firm in being a Socially Responsible Corporate Entity over the years.  According to the Statement, “Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has shown a great deal of commitment to the advancement and recognition of social responsibility initiatives in Lagos State and beyond, little wonder it has remained one of the reference points in the Insurance Industry in the country”.

The Managing Director/CEO of the underwriting firm, Wale Onaolapo, stressed that the company is committed to the development and upgrade of the Nigerian Environmental landscape in every ramification and that the company will continue to do all within its capacity to ensure that the country is rid off of all forms of environmental degradation.

He identified the company’s vision of being a leading brand in the insurance industry as the pivotal force behind the pace-setting initiatives that the company has embarked upon.

He said the organisation is proud to be associated with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation and what it represents in the larger society and would not rest on its oars in embarking on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that would further enhance the State and the country at large.

It will be recalled that the organisation supported the “Go Green Campaign” in 2009 and recently partnered with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA, to promote the conservation of secondary rainforests. As an environmental-friendly company, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc will continue to strive to champion community preservation initiatives of this nature.
