SANLAM
Emerging Markets (SEM) has widened its African footprint after acquiring a 51 percent stake in Nico Vida, Mozambique, a life insurance business owned by the Malawian Nico Holdings Group for an undisclosed amount. SEM last year listed Mozambique, Angola and Zimbabwe as destinations for its next acquisitions, after it announced acquiring a 40 percent stake in short-term insurance business Enterprise Insurance in Ghana for R240 million in October.
Shares dropped 0.65 percent to close
at R77.01 yesterday
