Show Christ-like conducts in claims payment clergy urged insurers

Insurers have once again been charged to esteem the ethics of their profession, specially in claims payment.

Venerable Luyi Akinwande of the All Saints Anglican Church Yaba Lagos, said is yesterday Tuesday , at the Christmas Carol  service organized by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN). He called on insurance operators to live exemplary lives like Christ who is the reason for Christmas celebration.

He urged the operators to shun the habit of paying claims to only those they are familiar with and their associates, adding that if the operators imbibe and follow the lifestyle of Christ, their industry will transform and by extension the nation.

In his massage drawn from Jonh 1 verse 10, he urged the operators to not to deny Christ in their business because of what they want to gain, stressing that religion has come a long way in the nation, but still remains very shallow, because most people do not practice what they profess.

The priest said insurance remains one of the best tools to prepare for the future and called on insurers to be above board to enable people embrace their services.

Director-General CIIN, Kola Ahmed, said the annual event was organised to enable operators appreciate God for His gestures through out the year, put operators in Christmas mood and enable them reflect on the reasons for the celebration.

He called on operators to imbibe the principles of love and trust which are basic teachings of religion.
