Insurance coverage for infertile couples

Infertile couples are expected to receive insurance coverage, said Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi.

He also said the measure is aimed at implementing the population policies notified by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

At present, infertility medicines and surgeries are not covered by insurance, he said.

The minister said that in order to increase childbirth, economic and social facilities should be made available to Iranian couples.

“We are interested in increasing the fertility rate in families who can improve the culture and technology of the country,” he said.

He urged the government and Majlis to offer special facilities to educated Iranian couples.

Hashemi said the implementation of medical referral system will produce fruitful results, the success of which depends on peoples conduct.

Deputy health minister for health affairs, Ali Akbar Sayyari, said earlier that the Health Ministry is planning to reorganize the health network, improve related standards and meet the sector’s manpower needs.

He added that fruitful measures have been implemented by the ministry to provide treatment to patients suffering from diseases, stressing that significant attention should be paid to prevention.

The official said Iran has made great achievements in the field of health in the past three decades.

Sayyari said implementation of the Health Overhaul Plan is a significant accomplishment of the current government.
