Guwahati: Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the finance department to investigate all pension-related pending cases in Assam and dispose them of at the earliest. About 3,668 such cases are pending in several districts across the state.

Gogoi has asked the authorities concerned to follow the Centre's measures regarding speedy disposal of such cases.

"Set up special pension courts in every district of the state," Gogoi said during a meeting with the finance department and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority on Monday.

Immediately, directives were issued to set up such courts in Jorhat, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Goalpara, Dhubri, Nagaon, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Sivasagar, Hailakandi, Darrang, Udalguri and Golaghat districts.

Gogoi also talked about implementation of the National Pension Scheme (Lite) to cover the weaker and economically disadvantaged sections.
