The President Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Fatai Lawal, has called for more cooperation among insurance operators to engender growth and development in the industry.
He gave the admonition at a picnic organised by the institute today Saturday, at Eleko Beach in Lagos, adding that operators should endeavour to attend programmes organised by the institute.
Lawal, took time to meet the operators made up of underwriters, brokers and reinsurers and encouraged them to continue to lend their support to the industry. He also used the opportunity to encourage the friends and family members who accompanied the operators to embrace insurance.
He noted that the picnic is a platform meant to enliven operators having been stressed by their daily chores. He added that the situation in the economy does not give room for people to relax; hence, the picnic helps to create atmosphere of relaxation for operators, their friends and families.
He said the event is a boost to awareness drive and impacts the industry greatly as friends and family members of the operators who participate get to know more about insurance.
Also in attendance at the event were leaders of Eleko Community. The Baale, Fatau Labia, lauded the efforts and contributions of the institute toward insurance education.
He said:  “The President, other members of the professional body, I must commend your efforts and contributions toward the growth of our economy, as well as your service to humanity. Gone are the days where there was low awareness  about insurance, but today, the level of awareness of insurance  is on the increase and many have benefitted from same. I therefore charge you not to relent in your efforts.”
