The President Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) Fatai Lawal, said the institute would donate 2000 copies of a book entitled Insurance for Secondary Schools to public secondary schools in Nigeria. The book which was written by the institute is said to cost about N4 million

Lawal disclosed this today Thursday, at the institute’s 2013 graduation in Lagos.

He said: “I am pleased to announce that our Council has approved the donation of three copies of the book to each of the over 2,000 Public Secondary Schools in Nigeria. This, we believe is a significant step in the current campaign to facilitate the teaching and learning of Insurance in secondary schools.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, your own contribution will be to help this book found space in every home in Nigeria by buying copies for your own secondary school, that of your spouse, and your children, and the schools in your neighborhood. By so doing, you will be helping the institute to recover the cost of producing the book, which is N4million.”

He noted that publication of the book offers unique opportunity for advancing one of the cardinal programmes of the institute which is the promotion of insurance education in Nigeria. He added that it will also herald a new dawn in insurance education by entrenching insurance in the consciousness of secondary school students, who are the future leaders of our Nation.

At the event 14 fellowship and 158 associates, were inducted into the institute’s list of professionals.

Lawal urged the fellows and associates to live up to the expectation reposed on them. Among the fellows is the Chief Executive Officer Mansard Insurance Plc, Mrs Yetunde Ilori.
