'Insurance agent' dupes senior citizen

A 66-year-old woman has been duped by a man posing as an insurance agent in Kamla Nagar in north Delhi.

Kuldeep Kaur's husband, Narendra Mohan Singh, was not home in the morning of November 26 when a man knocked at the door. "I was in the gurdwara like other days. Suddenly my wife called up and said an insurance agent had fled with all gold ornaments from our house in New Chandrawal," said Singh.

When Kaur told the alleged imposter that Singh was not home, "he told my wife about a Rs 7-lakh cheque against an insurance policy of my father, who had died years ago", said Singh.

Police said the man then asked for security deposit against the payment and fled with gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh.
Initial investigations indicate that an organized gang is behind the crime, said a police officer.
