Abu Dhabi insurance company embroiled in Dh10m bribery case

A major insurance company in Abu Dhabi has been referred to the Criminal Court on charges of using commissions and bribes in its business practices.
According to Al IttihadThe National’s Arabic sister publication, investigations carried out by Abu Dhabi Finance Prosecution (ADFP) found that the company would, as part of its practices, pay insurance brokers commissions and include them in the company’s financial records under expenses.
The ADFP had previously referred the former chief executive and general manager of the company’s Abu Dhabi branch to court after being charged with paying over Dh10 million to the first suspect to be awarded the insurance bidding.
