CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A man has been sentenced in federal court in New Hampshire to nearly four years in prison in an insurance fraud scheme.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 71-year-old Jerry Marino of Odessa, Florida, who managed a real estate trust, provided documents to an insurance agent in Manchester that fraudulently stated the financial worth of applicants for high-value life insurance properties. Marino would refer applicants to the agent, who would agree to pay him for each policy sold to a referral.
Marino received about $2.4 million in referral fees.
