The Commissioner for Insurance Muhammed Kari, has told insurance brokers to disbelief the notion that he is evil and would make things difficult for them as the helmsman of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

He said this yesterday at the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Members Evening in Lagos, stressing that he is interested in the wellbeing of all operators in the industry and would never do anything contrary to stipulated laws.

He told the brokers to embrace change, stressing that he will remain committed to entrenchment of professionalism and ethical practices in the industry.

Kari urged the operators to pray for him, instead of spreading unfounded rumours about him. He noted that he decided to join the board of the NCRIB in order for him  to connect with brokers and make necessary contributions toward improving broking business.

He used the opportunity to give out his phone number and email to the brokers, while urging them to feel free to reach him whenever they require his attention.

He told the operators to esteem ethical practice and professionalism, stressing that NAICOM will never tolerate breach  of relevant laws.

Kari restated the commission's position on the September deadline for operators to settle all outstanding claims.

He told the operators to report any underwriter who subverts the laws, adding that the commission will not also fail to discipline any broker reported by underwriter to has contravened the law.
