Emotions were intense today as brokers recount the achievements of the outgoing President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) Laide Osijo, whose tenure will end by October.

The event tagged: Investment Platform for Insurance Brokers and Farewell Luncheon, put together by the Lagos Area Committee of the NCRIB in Lagos, provided avenue for brokers and individuals whose lives have been touched by Osijo’s leadership style, to pour encomium on her.

The President of the Committee, Patrick Ikponmwosa, lauded osijo’s dexterity and leadership style, which has helped transformed the broking business. He noted that it will be in history that as the 16th president of the NCRIB, Osijo left a legacy that her successors need to work hard to outdo.

Past President of the Committee, Tunde Oguntade, said Osijo’s administration demonstrated that with determination, nothing is impossible. He lauded Osijo for given the NCRIB a befitting secretariat and image that opens doors at all levels.

Osijo, in her remark, urged brokers to sustain their commitment to ethical practice, adding that the sustenance of all the legacies of her administration lies in their hands.

She said: "I must note that the sustenance of all the legacies of this administration lies in the hands of each one of you. Just as the leaders have the responsibility to give quality direction and leadership, so also do followers deserve the right to demand service and unalloyed commitment, from their leaders. You must at all times contribute your quota to the council wherever you are while the onus is on you to demand for quality service in return.

The dream of taking our professional body to its enviable or desired height will only be possible if we all imbibe positive attitude to issues that concern our collective interest and not individualism."

Managing Director, Uacn Property Development Company Plc, Hakeen Ogunniran, used the avenue to educate participants at the event on the working of the property industry.
