Ramadan: Insurers urged to uphold good virtues

Insurance operators have been enjoined to esteem good virtues as enshrine in the holy books to enable them contribute positively to the development of the economy.
Associate Professor, Department of Religious and Peace Studies, Lagos State University Dr Lateef Adetona, gave the admonition today, while delivering a lecture on the topic, ‘Towards Rebuilding a Serene Society: An ideal Muslim Home to the Rescue’,  at the 2014 Ramadan Tafsir organised by the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) in Lagos.  

He called on the operators especially Muslims to esteem the teaching and examples of Prophet Mohammad, adding that adherence to such teachings will help create a serene economy void of problems.

The National Missioner, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rahmad Ahmad, while speaking on the topic, ‘In the Spider’s Web,’ called on Muslims to avoid copying the attitude and lifestyles of other people, but adhere to the teachings of Islam.

He noted that technology has roped people into a web, and cautioned that the ills associated with it should be avoided to have a better living.
The Chairman of the event, Professor M.A. Bidmos of the Department of Art and Social Sciences Education, University of Lagos, lauded the efforts of the CIIN in putting together the event to share and enhance knowledge of Insurance Muslims Practitioners.

President CIIN Bola Temowo, who was represented by his predecessor Fatai Lawal, promised to sustain the event yearly as it is helping in shaping the lifestyle of practitioners.
