- Eyes over 5000 student membership yearly

Students taking the October
professional examinations of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria
(CIIN) which started Monday, October 13, have lauded the professionalism and
maturity being displayed by the institute in the conducts of its examinations.

Services Insurance Brokers Limited, Arjun Markanda, who is one of the foreign
students taking the examinations, told Inspen today, at the College of
Insurance and Financial Management Asese Village, Ogun State, which is the
Lagos Centre for the Institute’s October examination, that the standard of CIIN’s
examinations is at par with its counterparts across the globe.
He noted that the institute has
continued to make significant improvements in each examination, adding that he
is highly satisfied with the way and manner the examinations are conducted.

The Company Secretary, Woodbrass
Petroleum Limited, Ojomo Tolulope, who is from the legal discipline, and is at
the final stage of the professional examinations, also poured encomium on the
institute over the level of organisation and conduct of the yearly
examinations.
She noted that the institute
has continued to introduce unique features at the different levels of the
examinations, adding that with the standard of the examinations, students are
spurred to work hard so as to pass their papers.
She urged people from other
disciplines to participate and acquire the institute’s certificates, stressing
that insurance being a means to mitigate risks should be esteemed to foster
economic growth and development.
Meanwhile, the depth of
professionals in the insurance industry will soon be over as the Institute said
it is working assiduously to attract and train over 5000 student members
through its examinations yearly.

continued to attract people from different disciplines into taking the exams.
He noted that over 1900
students are presently taking the examinations, adding that the level of enrolment
has continued to improve yearly.

He called on the public especially
insurers to retool and improve on their skills by enrolling in the institute’s
trainings, stressing that knowledge acquired five years ago may not be suitable
for today’s business. Therefore, there is need for continuous development and acquisition
of new trends.
