Jericho Businessmen Club, One of Ibadan’s prime and dynamic Socio-Cultural Organizations and a member of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, recently honoured four of its illustrious members for their sterling contributions to the socio-economic development of Ibadanland Nigeria in particular.
The Award ceremony was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, on Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos on October 10, 2014. The fourindividuals honoured are, the Managing Director/CEO of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Wale Onaolapo, the Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Chief. Bayo Adelabu, the President of the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji. Remi Bello and the Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan. The Award Ceremony was gracefully attended by well-meaning Nigerians of Ibadan descent and Captains of Industries from all walks of life.
The Club’s President and CEO of First Registrars, Mr. Bayo Olugbemi congratulated the Award Recipients for being proud Sons of Ibadanland and a pride to the Nation at large. He alluded to the fact that all the awardees have been very remarkable in their chosen fields and have impacted positively on the lives of upcoming Ibadan indigenes and Nigerians generally.
In his words, “our Awardees tonight have been very outstanding in all ramifications and they have all in no small measure contributed to the growth of our great Club, Ibadan and Nigeria; we are indeed very proud to have these highly commendable Ibadan Men as members of the Club and as patriots of our dear country.
Also commenting, the Chairman of the Occasion and Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, PrinceAjibola Afonja, said the Awardees are men of impeccable character who have made Ibadan proud in the comity of notable cities in the country.
The Managing Director of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Wale Onaolapo, in his citation was described as ahighly-rated gentleman, a jolly good fellow, a lover of sports and of course an astute professional of over 3 decades wealth of experience in the Insurance Industry in Nigeria and beyond. He joined Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc in 1994 as one of the pioneer Management Team in the capacity of Assistant General Manager (Technical) and rose through the ranks before attaining his current position of Managing Director/CEO of the company in 2010.
In the same vein, the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Wale Onaolapo expressed his gratitude to the esteemed members of the prestigious Jericho Businessmen Club, JBC, for finding him worthy of the honour just as he promised to continue to contribute his quota to the advancement of the Club in the years ahead.
The Guest Speaker of the Night and the Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewacharged all the Awardees to continue to be good Role Models that they are and to always stand in defense of the truth to make Nigeria a better place for all and sundry.
