With 15.5 million cars in Lagos alone and over 14 per cent of cars on Nigerian roads uninsured or driving with fake insurance policies, Venia Technologies Ltd, in conjunction with six other insurance companies, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and Hightower Insurance Brokers Ltd, last week launched Hyperlink “http://www.myautogenius. com” MyAutoGenius.com, Nigeria’s first online insurance comparison platform to bridge the gap in accessing insurance package.
According to Mr. Kola Oyeneyin, Chief Executive Officer of Venia Technologies (owners of Hyperlink “http://www. myautogenius.com” myautogenius.com), the platform provides the advantage of convenience, speed and provides car owners across Nigeria with auto insurance policies within five minutes in real-time.
He explained that all insurance policies bought on myautogenius.com web or mobile sites will also be uploaded instantly on Nigeria Insurance Database (NIID) by Hightower Insurance Brokers (the brokerage company behind AutoGenius), to guarantee its authenticity.
Oyeneyin demonstrated to the audience how fast and easy it was for anyone to now log on to myautogenius.com, search, compare insurers and buy their car insurance covers available from the leading insurance players in Nigeria within five minutes. “Customers can also report claims real-time online,” he said.
The Venia Technologies boss also stated that the platform would be going live by 12 noon on October 20, 2014, adding that the first 1000 visitors to the website to register their details on myautogenius.com before the website goes live will stand a chance of winning a brand new Hyundai Elantra Car 2014 model.
“It is certainly an amazing time in the insurance industry and with the launch of myautogenius.com and a few more products on the platform; we may be experiencing a new phase of techsurance in Nigeria,” he said.
The list of insurance partners who will first be showcasing their auto-policies through myautogenius.com include AIICO Insurance, Custodian & Allied Insurance, Leadway Assurance, NEM Insurance, Royal Exchange Plc. and Sovereign Trust Insurance.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of the NAICOM, Mr. Segun Farinu, who represented the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Fola Daniel, applauded the creativity and sagacity of AutoGenius and Hightower Insurance Brokers, saying the move supported NAICOM Market Development and Restructuring Initiative (MDRI).
