The Director-General, Chartered Insurance Institute of
Nigeria (CIIN) Kola Ahmed, has given the Adopt
a School Initiative of the Institute a push by adopting the Command
Secondary School Ojo, Lagos.
Ahmed, today Wednesday,
donated copies of the Insurance textbooks written by the Institute to the
school as part of his personal contributions toward enhancing insurance
education and awareness.
He noted that he
decided to adopt the school because it is one of the schools within his neighbourhood,
adding that two of his children have passed through the school and the third is
presently schooling there.
He lauded the school’s
efforts in instilling high level discipline in students, noting that his two
children that passed through the school are presently doing well.

The Commandant
of the school, Lt Col Y D Ahmed, who was elated with the gestured, commended
the Director- General for adopting the school. He noted that the school will
also adopt the Institute by encouraging its teachers to enhance their knowledge
through enrolling in the programmes offered by the institute.
He noted that
efforts will also be made to ensure that some of the teachers become chartered
in insurance. He pledged to put the books in good use, and ensure they are used
to promote insurance studies in the school.
