The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has threatens to withdraw the certificates of members who breach the examination process and engage in other unethical practices.
It's President Bola Temowo disclosed this today at the 2014 graduation and fellowship awards ceremony in Lagos. He noted that the certificates issued remains the institute's property and could be withdrawn from the holders if the institute has good reasons to do so.
He said the institute reserves the right to withdraw its certificates from any holder, if it discovers any breach of examination process, adding that a further reason for such withdrawal could emanate from acts unexpected of a holder of the institute's professional qualification.
Temowo said with the addition of three fellows and 122 associates, the registered professional members now stand at 209 fellows and 2,748 associates.
He noted that the institute has taken cognizance of the new mandate by the Federal Government requiring the insurance industry to create 150,000 new jobs in the next three years and 300,000 in the next decade.
He expressed delight over the growing enthusiasm exhibited by the public in acquiring professional insurance qualifications. And urged holders of the institute's certificates to uphold and defend the fundamental principles of insurance practice as well as their vows to be of good conduct at all times.
