Students of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will sit for papers in micro insurance and Takaful during the institute's professional examinations in 2015.
Director-General CIIN Kola Ahmed, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos recently.
He said that the institute was redesigning its syllabus to incorporate micro insurance and Takaful.
According to him, this is to ensure that the micro insurance and Takaful are instituted permanently in the institute's programme.
"We are in the process of redesigning our curriculum. By the time it comes out, micro insurance and Takaful will form integral part of the new curriculum.
"We are taking a cue from other countries like the chartered insurance institute in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai.
"They have micro insurance and Takaful in their programmes. So, we want to leverage in these areas.
"So, I envisage that by 2015, the syllabus review programme would have been completed wherein we incorporate these new areas, Takaful and micro insurance, into the syllabus," he said.
Ahmed said that the institute had good collaboration with CII in London.
