The ongoing
World Economic Forum on Africa, will help increase insurance industry’s
ability to mobilise fund, engenders development of new products and attract finance
and skills, the Director-General Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Sunday
Thomas, has said.
He told
Inspen in a telephone interview, that the impact of the forum on the economy
will significantly boost insurance operations.
He said: “There
is so much for the insurance industry. Insurance as a derive product, when other
sectors of the economy are doing well, certainly, assets will be acquired and
there will be thing for which cover will be provided. But beyond that, the
forum is attracting attention to the expansion of insurance practice in the
country.
“The forum
will help increase the industry’s ability to mobilise fund and impact on the
social structure of the economy by the development of new products. Investors
will also come with finance and skills; all these will have positive impact on
the economy and by extension boost insurance operations.”
