The CEO of the Insurance Supervision Regulating Agency (ARSEG) , Aguinaldo Jaime, was recently elected alternate director of the African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) for South and East Africa.
The information is contained in a press release from the Embassy of Angola in Egypt, stating that the former Angolan deputy prime minister was elected at the 36th Africa Re Ordinary General Assembly held on June 19 in Cairo.
Africa Re has as its task to develop the African insurance and reinsurance industry, promote the growth of the reinsurance premiums and their growing retention in the national, regional and sub-regional markets in Africa and back and foster the continent's economic growth.
Its shareholders are African states, including Angola, the Africa Development Bank, the World Bank and other international organisations, as well as institutions and companies in the insurance and reinsurance industry from Africa and other continents.
Commenting on his election as Africa Re alternate director, Aguinaldo Jaime said it is a reason for pride and satisfaction for all ARSEG staff and Angola.
He said it is also a recognition of the importance of the Angolan economy in general and of its insurance market, in particular, which encourages the country to continue with the reforms in its financial system.
