The Chartered insurance institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will from tomorrow Tuesday June 17th, be convening a conference of its key practitioners to X-ray the Insurance industry contributions to the national economy.
A statement by its Director/ Head Corporate Affairs, Joseph Obah, said the confab, an annual international conference will also examine paradigm shifts in insurance education in a bid to promote all inclusive education of its members and bridge the palpable public education gap.
Director-General of the Institute, kola Ahmed, said it has become imperative to reposition the Insurance industry against the backdrop of the rebased economy, stating that the Industry players now have reasons to periscope the latent gains of the new status of the economy.
He said that the Institute's role is to provide platforms such as the conference to enable the operators meet and rub minds on their collective concerns especially the need to improve insurance penetration in the country.
Ahmed noted that an array of distinguished speakers will be addressing the Conference delegates. They include: Kola Ayeye, Executive Director, Mainstreet Bank, Prof. Sola Fajana, Vice Chancellor, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Dr. Biodun Adedipe, CEO, B. Adedipe Associates, Barrister Tola Adegbayi, Executive Director, Leadway Assurance, Tunji Oluyemi, Former MD/CEO, Glanvill Enthoven and Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, MD/CEO Mansard Insurance. Sir Ogala Osoka, Chairman, Enterprise Bank will chair the Roundtable Session.
Meanwhile, the premier professional body is also set for a change of leadership baton at the level of its presidency. The incumbent president, Fatai Lawal will be handing over to his deputy, Bola Temowo at the Institute's Investiture Luncheon on Thursday I9th June to climax the conference events starting on Tuesday 17th June with a welcome cocktails.
Temowo, described as a consummate Insurance Professional, has traversed all sections of the insurance industry as a Broker, Underwriter and Loss Adjuster. He is reputed to be the first serving Loss Adjuster to become president of CIIN. Dignitaries expected at the Investiture include the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Chief Segun Oshunkeye, former Chairman, Nestle Nigeria Plc.
