Adediji to establish pension commission for Ondo State


Ondo State government, which recently enacted its pension law, has appointed Tai Peter Adediji to establish the state’s pension commission that would help coordinate and manage workers’ pension affairs. Adedeji is group managing director of Pensionscope and the CEO of Interterms Pension Consultancy.
With the appointment, Adediji will bring to bear his robust experience on pension management, in drawing the template for the commission, appoint a director-general and relevant officers. He will also be responsible for the appointment of Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and Pension Fund Custodians (PFCs). Adediji, who was the pioneer managing director/CEO of the CRIB Pension Fund Administrator, has contributed immensely to pension industry’s development through article publications, paper presentations at high profiled fora, production of Pensionscope radio programme (a popular Lagos-based weekly radio programme on pension, insurance and related issues) as well as Pensionscope magazine, a monthly highly professional publication for both pension and insurance industries).
Commenting on the appointment, he commended Governor Olusegun Mimiko for the gesture, while pledging to do his best in ensuring that the state had one of the best pension commissions that can guarantee improved wellbeing for contributors, retirees and other stakeholders. He pledged to live up to the confidence reposed on him, by being professional and ethical in the conduct of the responsibilities entrusted on him, saying the enactment of the state’s pension law, especially now that a new pension law had been signed by the Federal Government, will help enhance the moral of the state workers. He lauded the efforts of the state government in joining other progressive states in laying a secured and prosperous future for its workers, calling on workers in the state to reciprocate the gesture by redoubling their contributions to the state’s development.
Adediji is a seasoned pension consultant, insurance broker, staff welfare negotiator, paper presenter, administrator and grass-root motivator. With analytical skills, he has widely travelled the length and breadth of the country presenting papers, facilitating and marketing.
A free-mixer with good training and negotiating skills, Adediji is endowed with the ability and capability to win the affection of people around him which has made him a member of various negotiating team and training at various levels.
He is a product of the University of Lagos and Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho. His first degree is in insurance/pension and for his second degree he majors in Finance. He is an associates of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Chartered Insurance Brokers of Nigeria, as well as a fellow of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria. He is an elected Council Member of the Institute.
He started his career with Yankari Insurance Company Ltd, Bauchi State in 1986, where he moved to the Nigerian Life and Pension Consultants, Lagos in 1989. In 1993, he was employed by the Fidelity Bond of Nigeria and rose from departmental head/manager to controller and from there to assistant director where he was given double promotion to the post of Executive Director, Operation of the company. After voluntary disengagement from the company, he went to pursue private initiatives. When the issue of the new Contributory pension Scheme came up by the Pension Reform Act 2004, and NCRIB invited him to pioneer the company – CRIB Pension Fund Managers Ltd, a PFA, as the first managing director/CEO.
