The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) as part of its commitment to boost insurance education has donated 2000 copies of insurance text books to the Lagos State Ministry of Education, to be distributed among Secondary schools in the state.

Its President Bola Temowo at the presentation of the books today in Lagos, said the donation is part of the institute’s commitment geared at accelerating the empowerment of institutions offering insurance courses in the country.

He noted that the institute had previously donated course books for professional examinations to over 15 tertiary institutions at the cost of N600, 000 for each institution. He stressed that Information Communications Technology (ICT) equipment were also donated to four institutions to equip their insurance libraries.

“All of these represent our articulated efforts at expanding the capacity of institutions offering insurance programmes thereby guiding them pragmatically towards the improvement of their capacity to deliver superior and qualitative insurance education,” he said.

He said the institute has also initiated a campaign to encourage insurance professionals to take up teaching positions either on full time or part time to help tackle the challenge on the dearth of teachers and lecturers for insurance at secondary and tertiary levels of education in the country.
