PATIALA: Police busted a gang of fraudsters and arrested eight Delhi residents who would allegedly cheat innocent people by presenting them the fake insurance policies by the name of PNB insurance company.
Patiala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Hardial Singh Mann said police arrested Pankaj Kumar Chauhan, Shankar Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Chetan Kumar, Bahadur Singh, Meenakashi and Kajal, all residents of Delhi, who would use fake names to trap unsuspecting customers.
Mann said the case was registered on the statement Pritam Lal, a resident of Sangrur, who complained that the insurance company had taken Rs 9 lakh from him through cheque and in cash. "The cheques were got withdrawn in the account of PNB Metlife Insurance Company that had fake identity proofs," the complainant alleged. The fake agents were arrested by police after they were traced during the course of investigation.
