Insurers scramble for policies to cover entertainment industry

In a bid to take advantage of the huge opportunities in the nation’s entertainment industry, the umbrella body of underwriters - Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has constituted a committee to look into suitable policies for entertainers.

Inspen gathered that the committee which has been broken into subcommittee have the mandate to examine available policies for entertainment industries in advanced countries, and evolve similar policies for all stakeholders in the entertainment business.

The Committee was     given up to the second quarter of this year to submit its report, while the assignment was to be completed by the third quarter of this year.

Director-General of NIA, Sunday Thomas in a telephone interview said the committee is working assiduously on the project.

The entertainment industry is one of the sectors that boosted the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in the recently rebased exercise, making the nation the biggest in Africa.
